Sell on Amazon through the Witley Press Bookshop

Your book will automatically be listed on Amazon if you have an ISBN number, although they will not have any of your books in stock, unless you have chosen to sell this way. They may well list a delivery time of 4-6 weeks, which will dissuade customers from purchasing and you will have the expense of shipping books to them so they can fulfil orders. Amazon ask for a discount of 60% per book sold.

You can of course choose to sell your books online yourself, but why have all the hassle of processing orders, printing out delivery notes and labels, packing and stamping, plus endless trips to the post office?

Witley Press Bookshop holds an Amazon Marketplace account, (which lists us as an alternative supplier), through which we can sell your books, either with or without an ISBN number. We collect payments from Amazon and deposit them, less our postage and packing charge, into your bank account each quarter. You will be provided with a quarterly sales statement and we also advise when stocks are getting low in plenty of time for you to arrange a reprint.

We securely pack and despatch all orders received before 10am on that working day, so if sent by second class post, your customers should receive their books within a week. There is an option within our account for sending items express next working day to the UK and we also despatch overseas if requested.

For a one-off set up charge of just £30.00+VAT per title plus an annual storage and administration fee of £25+VAT per title plus 5p+VAT per book stored, we will list your books on our Amazon Marketplace account, store, pack and despatch for you.

The only additional charge we make is for postage and packing. We do not charge commission per book sold.

The costing example below is based on a A5 sized book weighing 500g:

Book selling price £9.99

Amazon standard UK shipping charge (fixed) £2.80

Total selling price £12.79

Amazon referral fee (15% of book price) £1.50

Amazon closing fee (standard delivery) £0.43

Witley Press Bookshop postage and packing fee (second class post) £3.36

Total fees £5.29

Profit per book £7.50 (equivalent to 75% profit on price of book)

Bookshops typically ask for a minimum discount of around 35%, so you are
making an extra £1.00 per book based on this example.
